13 School Visits
Our program brings your district a series of 13 separate school visits
As standards evolve, so do we.
We are committed to enhancing your curriculum delivery—well beyond simply entertaining your students. The Sequential Dramatics Program supports New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Standards. Certain grade levels also include history, social studies, science, and math components. A “staircase of complexity” is built into our K-12 program. We help each grade attain readiness goals with progressive concepts, syntax, and vocabulary. Our program began decades ago in consultation with educators. As student learning objectives evolve, we continue to consult with administrative and teaching professionals from New York State school districts to adapt and refine our content.
K–12 Sequential Dramatics Program
With the K–12 Sequential Dramatics Program, The REV On Tour brings your district a series of 13 separate school visits that include:
- A preparatory in-class lesson followed by a single-grade stage performance for K–5 audiences
- Creative workshops that highlight careers in the arts using 21st Century Skills for grades 3, 4 and 5
- A statewide writing competition for grades 6, 7 and 8
- Multi-grade assemblies: K–2, 6–8 and 9–12

About Us
In-Classroom Preparatory Workshops
Before seeing their grade-level play, elementary students spend 30 minutes in the classroom with an actor who introduces concepts and themes to be explored and appropriate audience behavior.
Commitment to Convenience
We come to you! Our visits are coordinated with your calendar, class schedule, and specials, eliminating the need for permission slips or buses. Our actors travel in a small van and take care of their own set and sound, wardrobe and makeup, classroom lessons, and staging. They are quick, courteous, efficient, and unobtrusive.
Study Guides
Teachers receive our Study Guides in advance. These summarize the play, highlight key concepts, note targeted standards, and suggest discussion topics and activity prompts. Each Study Guide also includes Student Learning Objectives, and a list of NYS Learning Standards met for each the individual production or workshop.
Diverse Programming
With the complete program, students will engage with history, current events, and folktales from other cultures. Each component blends curriculum topics and character themes while addressing the specific level of academic progress and developmental readiness of the targeted students.
Faculty Evaluations
Teacher evaluations ensure quality and accountability. We take your input seriously, tabulate all ratings received, and send the results to your district administration in our program-wide report card.
Student Responses
After each show, we ask students to send us a response. Those who send a note, picture, or card will receive a handwritten reply from an actor. We reward students for taking the time to write.
We make it easy with hassle-free logistics.
- Visits coordinated with your calendar, class schedule, and specials
- No AV, facilities, set-up, or technical assistance required
- On-campus in your classrooms and gym/cafeteria/auditorium
- No permission slips! No busing!
60K Students
Reaching more than 60,000 students across the state
Over 65 Years
The REV Theatre Company was founded as Auburn Children’s Theatre in 1958
65+ Districts
Helping over 65 districts take advantage of our program
The largest touring children’s theatre in Upstate New York and one of the largest in the country, The Rev On Tour reaches more than 60,000 students across the state through its curriculum based multi-discipline Sequential Dramatics Program.
Originally offering weekend drama classes for local youth under the name Auburn Children’s Theatre, the organization was founded in September of 1958. In 1961, the children’s theatre instituted a semi-professional in-school program. Within four years the program began touring state-wide. In 1974, the Tour became fully professionalized. In 1981, Producing Director Ed Sayles took over leadership of the corporation and the Tour began to grow in earnest. Today, the organization has blossomed into one of the nation’s foremost professional touring youth theatres in the country, offering performances, workshops and study guide materials tailored to each grade level through its Sequential Dramatics Program. We choose productions which complement the subject matter to help teachers and students in meeting New York State Learning Standards.
Our program addresses state standards for the Arts, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, LOTE, and Career Development and Occupational studies. The program has been designed to serve to every child in your district, every year your district participates.
We understand the degree of commitment in providing arts education and we are equally committed to making our program available to any interested school district. Please contact us to discuss how The REV On Tour can help your district join over 65 others in taking advantage of the Sequential Dramatics Program. While most districts elect to participate in our full program, we do offer single bookings of our program components. If you have specific needs or interests, please contact us to discuss how The REV On Tour can work for you. Please contact Lisa Chase, Director of Education, with any questions!
