Call for Submissions

The REV Theatre Company is seeking submissions for its Educational Tour. Solicited and unsolicited scripts for young audiences will be accepted on an ongoing basis in consideration for full production in future seasons.

Submitted scripts should meet the following requirements:

Small Cast (3-4 actors max, with doubling)

R

Runtime: 45 minutes max.

Touring Production (minimal set/lighting requirements preferred)

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Jackie and Jamie are tucking in for bedtime with a big book of their favorite stories! The only problem? They “borrowed” the book from Jackie’s grandfather without asking permission. When Grandpa George comes looking for his book, the two tell a fib to cover up their crime. Feeling guilty, they confess—but Grandpa points out that this is becoming a pattern for the pair. He knows just the right story to send them off to sleep with: Aesop’s classic “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

Do You See What I See in the Sea?

Imagination turns a day at the beach into a journey beneath the waves to meet the creatures of Coral Cove. Gobi and Sharkey are hunting down a sunken treasure and Mr. Crabby just wants to shut his door to keep out visitors. With the help of a few scuba divers, all the residents of Coral Cove learn that life is richer when you share it with friends.

Emilia and the Heart of the Amazon

Emilia is not happy that her family is relocating to the remote Amazon Rainforest. But when her father falls ill on the journey up the river, Emilia must venture deep into the unfamiliar jungle to find a cure. She uncovers a magical world of talking monkeys, shape-shifting butterflies, and a local Ticuna child desperate to save their home from a destructive foreign corporation. Emilia must learn the ways of the Amazon and its inhabitants to save her father and preserve the local habitat.

After a hurricane strikes Puerto Rico, the people of the island are working hard to get things back to normal. But the animals want to help too! Luna the street dog and Teo the burro set out on their own mission to bring a very special book to a very special kid named Carmen. But the storm has stirred up a strange magic in the forest, and Teo and Luna will have to face natural obstacles, mythical beasts, and their own fears in order to set things right.

The Golden Goose

The Magic Paintbrush

Xiao Yue is a talented but poor young artist who lives in a small fishing village in China. Every day she wishes for a paintbrush to replace the dull charcoal she uses to make portraits. One day, a mysterious artist presents Xiao Yue with an incredible gift: a magical paintbrush that has the power to make her art come to life! But with the brush comes a stern warning: She must only use her new powers to do good deeds. This Chinese folktale teaches the value of putting the needs of others before our own, and about how quick thinking and creativity can save the day.
